Redefining
Comfort

with
Transformable Design

Prostoria’s design journey began with a bold vision: to challenge conventional furniture and create pieces that adapt to the realities of modern living. At the heart of this mission was the development of transformable armchairs and sofa beds — a niche overlooked by many, yet increasingly relevant in today’s world of urbanization and shrinking living spaces. Founder and visionary Tomislav Knezović recognized the opportunity early on.

Rather than treating multifunctional furniture as an afterthought, Prostoria placed it at the center of its design. The result was a typology of sofa beds that combine sophistication with everyday usability. What started as a solution for compact urban spaces soon transcended its original context — with pieces like Revolve and Up-Lift becoming staples in hotels, vacation residences, offices, and public spaces.

Transformable
Armchairs & Sofa Beds

Today, Prostoria’s transformable collection features standout designs that blend functionality with refined aesthetics. Among them is the Revolve sofa bed, created by Numen/ForUse, Borovnjak & Bratović, which remains a landmark piece. Revolve’s patented mechanism allows the backrest to rotate 180 degrees to form a full-size bed — an elegant solution that avoids clunky mechanics in favor of symmetry, simplicity, and effortless transformation.

We realized complicated mechanisms don’t work long-term. That’s why we
focused on the simplest unfolding method possible. Revolve’s open bed
form is symmetrical and looks equally good placed freely in
a room.

Unfolding turned into a game

From there, the innovation continued. The Up-Lift collection, designed by Neisako, features both a sofa bed and an armchair, each capable of unfolding into a bed with a gentle, almost playful motion. What is often a cumbersome task has been reimagined as a graceful gesture.

Rounding out the collection is Kontrapunkt, also designed by Neisako. This minimalist reclining chair was developed over two years in collaboration with Prostoria’s in-house engineers and craftsmen. In contrast to the bulkiness often associated with recliners, Kontrapunkt offers a design-led alternative. A simple lift of the armrest activates a smooth transition to a reclined position, as the footrest unfolds from beneath the cushion.

“The name Kontrapunkt comes from music,” the designers explain. “It refers to the harmony created when two distinct melodies run in parallel — a concept that mirrors the dual functionality of the chair.”

Through these transformative designs, Prostoria continues to redefine how we interact with furniture — merging form and function in ways that reflect the evolving needs of modern life.
